Cultures in Harmony will send three people to Zimbabwe from August 17 to September 1, 2010, for a project entitled "From the Studio to the Stars." This will be our third project there, following Sound of Water, Sound of Hope and Give Children Musical Instruments.
We will assist as counselors and music teachers at Musicamp. An arts administrator will offer workshops in collaboration with RATZ (Revival Arts Tradition/Tourism Zimbabwe) on arts administration, recording, and the use of technology in music. In collaboration with Rovambira, a nationally acclaimed mbira ensemble, we will present a cultural exchange concert tour of areas including Harare, Marondera, and Wedza.
We will help RATZ create a 10-minute documentary which will be uploaded to YouTube. Finally, we will partner with renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Solomon Guramatunhu to present a benefit concert for Eyes for Africa.
