Maggie Lauer

Flutist Maggie Lauer is a fellowship student of Denis Bluteau at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.  Ms. Lauer received her Bachelor’s degree as a scholarship student of Linda Chesis.  She has performed at several venues, including Carnegie, CAMI and Merkin Halls, along with Symphony Center in Chicago, the Whitney Museum, Scandinavia House (NYC), and the Musica d’Estu festival in Xabia, Spain.  Equally passionate about contemporary music, Ms. Lauer made her debut as an orchestral soloist with Pierre Boulez performing Maestro Boulez’s “…explosante fixe.” during the Pierre Boulez/IRCAM residency at the Manhattan School of Music.  She has also performed for both Elliot Carter’s and Steve Reich’s Birthday Celebrations and has performed in the Bang on a Can Marathon Music Festival at the World Financial Center.  Ms. Lauer has also been a prizewinner of the Chicago Flute Club, Society of American Musicians and Marrowstone Concerto Competitions.   She is a past member of the Tactus Contemporary Ensemble, and was previously on flute faculty at the Bronx Charter School for the Arts.  Currently Ms. Lauer resides in Montreal, QC and is on the flute faculty at the McGill Conservatory.

 

Ms. Lauer participated in Project XV in Cameroon.
