"Tala Andig Kay" (2007; Eric Sister) chronicles our work with the Tala-Andig indigenous community in the remote mountain village of Miarayon in the Philippines. For one week, we taught teenagers how to compose music as they taught us about their culture and heritage. Both sides grow closer together, and before the American musicians leave the village in the clouds, dozens have lives have changed for all time.
When Cultures in Harmony went to Pakistan in August 2009, a crew from Dawn TV was never far behind during our time in Karachi. This extraordinary film offers a look into the cultural dynamic between Americans and Pakistanis, featuring in depth interviews with musicians from both sides as they figure out how to work together to present outreach concerts in primary schools run by The Citizens Foundation. At a time when the relationship between Pakistanis and Americans might appear precarious, this film shows that music can be a path towards a friendlier future.
